Leo Mangio, 99, died at his home in Milton on Jan. 14.
Born in Boston, he lived in Dorchester until his move to Milton four years ago.
A decorated World War II Army and Army Air Forces veteran, he was involved in the campaign at Normandy, among others in Europe, during the war. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart.
A retired union laborer, he worked most of his life in the construction industry.
Mr. Mangio was involved in the Kit Clark program in Dorchester.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Josephine W. Blanke, Pauline Adie, Frances Rizk, John Mangio, James Mangio, Joseph Mangio and Vincent Mangio.
A funeral service was held in the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home on Jan. 17. Burial was in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
