Margaret C. (Laffan) Cummings, 100, a longtime Milton resident, died May 18 at St. Joseph Manor in Dorchester after a lengthy illness.
Born in Milton, she was a member of the first graduating class of St. Gregory High School in Dorchester.
A longtime employee of Walter Baker Chocolate factory in Milton, she retired as a supervisor when the plant moved to Hershey, Pa.
Mrs. Cummings was also employed at the Tucker Pharmacy in Milton for several years.
She was a member of the Milton Woman’s Club.
Wife of the late Richard H. Cummings, she is survived by three nieces, Arlene Phinney, Marie McDermott, and Margaret Delaney, all of Milton; and three grandchildren, Jennifer Santis, of Texas, Erin Foley, of Ipswich, and Michael F. Foley Jr., of Pembroke.
She was the mother of the late Susan M. Cummings Foley, and sister of the late Anna Wieners, Mary Burley, Ellen Needham, Charles Laffan, John Laffan and James Laffan.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Mary of the Hill Church on May 21. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
