Margaret G. Sheil died at home Sept. 14 after a lengthy illness.
Born in Boston, she resided in Milton for most of her life. She was a graduate of Emmanuel College and received her Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
A retired English and linguistics professor, she taught at the State University College at Oneonta, N.Y.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard A. Boland.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas J. Sheil and Susanne (Leddy) Sheil, and sister of the late Susanne Sheil and Thomas M. Sheil.
A memorial Mass was celebrated in St. Mary of the Hills Church on Sept. 20. Burial was private.
