Marguerite T. Hamel

Marguerite T. (White) Hamel, of Milton and Scituate, died at her home in Milton on Aug. 18.
Born in Cambridge, Mrs. Hamel devoted her life to caring for her family.
She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy, Boston, and Wheelock College. She received a degree in childhood education from Wheelock.
In 1953, Mrs. Hamel moved to Milton where she became an active member of St. Agatha Parish. She was involved in the guild and in the church choir.
She also volunteered at the gift shop at Carney Hospital in Dorchester.
Wife of the late Robert Reid Hamel, she is survived by her children, Ginny Hamel and her spouse, Carol, of Scituate, Julie Stanton and her husband, Robert, of Waltham, Joanne Bonner and her husband, Hugh, of Milton, Betsy Lussier and her husband, Phil, of Milton, Marguerite Hamel-Nardozzi and her husband, Christopher Scarcella, of Milton, and Robert Hamel and his wife, Eileen, of Scituate.; her sister, Virginia M. White, of Quincy; her brother-in-law, Rev. J. Thomas Hamel, S.J., of Holy Cross College, Worcester; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late George White, S.J., William W. White, John G. White and Robert L. White.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on Aug. 21. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
