Martha T. (MacDonald) Doherty died Dec. 26.

Born in Boston 81 years ago, she was a lifelong resident of Milton and a graduate of Milton High School.

Mrs. Doherty was an avid sports fan. She loved being with her children and grandchildren.

Wife of the late Robert K. “Red” Doherty, a retired member of the Milton Fire Department, she is survived by her children, Kelly A. Gallagher and her husband, Richard, Linda J. Doherty, William J. Doherty, Lt. Brian A. Doherty, a member of the Milton Fire Department, Paul P. Doherty and his wife, Andrea, all of Milton, Gerard E. Doherty and his wife, Donna, of South Weymouth, and Erin L. Doherty and David Crowe, of Brockton; her brother, Robert J. MacDonald, of Connecticut; and six grandchildren.

She was the mother of the late Kyle Doherty, and the sister of the late Mary Hulme, Walter MacDonald, John MacDonald and Rita MacDonald.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Elizabeth Church on Dec. 30. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
