Mary Claire (Collins) Ball, a 55-year resident of Westwood, died Feb. 25 at Norwood Hospital.
Born in Boston, she grew up in Dorchester where she lived for many years before moving to Westwood. A graduate of Girls Latin School and Boston Teachers College, she received her master’s degree from Boston University.
Mrs. Ball taught school in the Norwood elementary schools for many years before her retirement in 1989.
Wife of the late Thomas A. Ball, she is survived by her children, Cathleen J. Foster, of Maryland, Susan C. Concannon, of Georgia, Thomas A. Ball, of Westwood, and Rosemary V. Ball, of Dorchester; her son-in-law, Paul Concannon; her grandchildren, Caitlin S. Foster, Lauren A. Foster and Jared A. Foster; her sister, Rose Murphy, of Braintree; and her brother, Timothy Collins, of Walpole.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Agatha Church on Feb. 27. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
