Mary M. (Sweeney) Lynch, of Hingham, died at South Shore Hospital on Sept. 19 after a brief illness.
A five-year Hingham resident, she grew up in the Lower Mills area of Dorchester and had lived in Merrymount, Quincy for over 50 years.
She was a retired employee of Carter Rice Co., South Boston, and a former employee of New England Telephone and Telegraph.
Wife of the late James P. Lynch, she is survived by her children, Mary Ann Shannon and her husband, Brian, of Florida, Clare M. Walsh and her husband, Sean, of Braintree, and Carol Mearn and her husband, Gerard, a member of the Concord Police Department, of Shirley; her sister, Adelaide Durkin, of Hingham; and nine grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Eileen Donovan, Frank Sweeney, Paul Sweeney and Vincent Sweeney.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Quincy, on Sept. 23. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
