Maura A. Dowling, of Brookline, formerly of New Jersey, died Nov. 29.

She had served as the assistant director and acting director at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. She was a former employee of the Sheraton Corp. and former assistant to the associate dean at Boston University.

She was a 1984 graduate of University of Virginia and earned a master’s degree from Harvard University.

She was a lifelong Catholic and loved her church. She especially enjoyed going to St. Clement Eucharistic Shrine for Mass and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

She was the daughter of Moira J. (Cotter) Dowling, of Virginia and the late Kevin L. Dowling. She is survived by her siblings, Siobhan Johansson and her husband, Robert, of Virginia, Kevin Dowling, of California, Rev. Sean P. Dowling, of the diocese of Burlington, Vt., Seamus Dowling and his wife, Julie, of New Jersey, and Shane Dowling and his wife, Traci, of Virginia; her nieces and nephews, Erin Dowling, Shane Dowling, Olivia Dowling, Liam Dowling and Jillian Dowling.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Clement Eucharistic Shrine, Boston, on Dec. 3. Burial was in Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, Emmitsburg, Md.
