Nicholas H. Gabriel, 80, of Quincy, formerly of Milton, died July 4 at home after a battle with cancer.
Born in Cortland, N.Y., to the late Joena (Duca) Gabriel and the late Daniel J. Gabriel, he was a graduate of State University of New York, Binghamton, where he studied electrical engineering. He came to Boston in 1959 to work for Laboratory for Electronics.
Mr. Gabriel retired from Raytheon Service Co. in Burlington, in 1995. He lived in Milton for 35 years prior to his move to Quincy 10 months ago.
He is remembered as a kind, gentle person who worked hard, loved his garden and was devoted to his family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary L. (Killion) Gabriel; his son, Daniel P. Gabriel, of Arlington, Va.; his sisters-in-law, Ann Killion and Margaret Cochrane; and his nephews, Joseph Spano, of Berkshire, N.Y., and Thomas Cochrane, of Norwell.
He was the brother of the late Elva O’Dwyer.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on July 8. Burial was in Mount Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury.
