Born in Buffalo, N.Y., and raised in Newton and Scituate, he was a graduate of LaSalle Military Academy on Long Island, N.Y., and Boston College.

Mr. Kelley was an independent insurance broker, most recently with Charles F. Murphy Insurance in Braintree.

An avid golfer, he was a past president of the Massachusetts Golf Association and a member of the Milton Hoosic Club.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia M.(Graham) Kelley; his children, Oliver Kelley Jr., of Quincy, Katherine Elizabeth Whalley and her husband, Kenneth, of Topsfield, Pamela Kelley, of Hingham, Juliann Concannon and her husband, Patrick, of Scituate and Jennifer Drain and her husband, Timothy, of Mansfield; his grandchildren, Kate Whalley, Henry Whalley, Owen Concannon, Caroline Concannon, Patrick Drain, Matthew Drain and Molly Drain; his sister, Ellen Kelley White, of Scituate; two nieces; and seven nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Elizabeth Church on Oct. 3. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
