Paul E. Gormley, 89, of Milton, died July 14.

Born and raised in Dorchester, he was a graduate of Boston Technical High School. He entered the Navy during World War II, and served in the Asiatic and Pacific theaters. Upon his discharge from the military he joined the New England Telephone Co. where he worked for 39 years, retiring as a manager with AT&T.

After his retirement he worked at the Murphy School in Dorchester, assisting students with special educational needs.

Mr. Gormley, a dedicated husband and father, vacationed every summer at the family residence on the St. John River in New Brunswick.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen M. (Gunn) Gormley; his children, Mary Gormley and Anne Gormley, both of Milton, Ellen Pasquale and her husband, William, of East Amherst, N.Y., John Gormley and Nancy Feeney, of East Bridgewater, and Paul Gormley and his wife, Kimi Iguchi, of South Boston; his grandchildren, Brian Pasquale and Julia Pasquale, both of East Amherst, N.Y., Amanda Gormley, of Raynham, and Jessica Gormley, of Watertown; his great-granddaughter, Hannah Butler; and his sisters, Mary Callahan and Catherine Gormley.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Mary of the Hills Church on July 19. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
