Paul S. Stanton

Paul S. “Pepper” Stanton, 83, of Milton and Marshfield, died March 5.

Born and raised in Neponset, he was a Navy veteran of World War II and served on the USS Tarawa.

He was a teacher and coach at North Quincy High School for 34 years, and broker/owner of Paul S. Stanton Realty in Dorchester for more than 50 years.

Mr. Stanton was the intramural boxing champ for the Boston College class of 1952.

Eternally young at heart and an avid competitive sportsman, he could always be found playing games, including racquetball with the Thursday Knights, basketball on Friday nights with friends he’d known for more than 25 years, and golf on the weekends well into his late 70s. He never stopped and continually sought adventure.

During his youth, he was a soloist with St. Ann’s Choir in Neponset, which led to solos at the Café de Paris and many local hotspots near the beach during summers in Marshfield.

He is survived by his wife, Denise T (O’Leary); his children, Andrea Stanton, Michele Stanton and Matthew Stanton, all of Milton, Paul Keith Stanton of Charlestown, Roger Stanton of South Carolina, and Anthony Stanton; of Westwood; eight grandchildren; and his sister, Helen Cox, of Pennsylvania.

He was the father of the late Mark Stanton, brother of the late Richard Stanton, Dorothy Donahue, Robert Stanton, Edward Stanton, Gertrude Bird and John Stanton, and brother-in-law of the late George Kenneally and Carole Kenneally.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on March 9. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.

Donations may be made to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Development Office, 125 Nashua St., Boston, MA 02114.

Arrangements were by the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home.
