Rev. William F. Kenneally, an Archdiocese of Boston priest for 57 years, died at home at Regina Cleri Residence in Boston on Oct. 12.
Rev. Kenneally was born in Roxbury and graduated from Jamaica Plain High School, Class of 1942. He attended Boston College for 18 months, then entered the Army and was discharged in 1946.
He resumed studies at Boston College and entered St. John’s Seminary in 1947. Rev. Kenneally was ordained in 1953 and was assigned to St. Jerome’s Church in Weymouth, St. Mary’s Church in Dedham and St. Andrew’s Church in Forest Hills. He entered the Army Chaplain Corps and served in Korea from 1963 until his discharge as a captain in 1967.
He served Holy Name Church in West Roxbury for four years and St. Ann’s Church in Quincy for two years. He served as pastor of St. Matthew’s Church in Dorchester from 1973 to 1976; St. Mary’s Church in Foxboro from 1976 to 1986 and St. Bonaventure Church in Plymouth from 1986 to 1997. Rev. Kenneally became a senior priest in residence at St. Agatha Church in April 1997 and later resided at Regina Cleri.
Son of the late John Kenneally and Elizabeth Kenneally, he is survived by his nephew and nieces, John Kenneally, of West Roxbury, Jean Kenneally, of Mansfield, Barbara Yates, of Norfolk, Joan Walker, of Whitman, Susan DiBona, of Laconia, N.H., and Janet O’Neil, of Worcester; and grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
He was the brother of the late John Kenneally Jr., Mary Peloquin and Katherine Kenneally and the uncle of the late Andrew Peloquin Jr.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on Oct. 16. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Randolph.
