Richard F. “Dickie” O’Donnell Jr., 50, of Milton, a systems engineer, died June 24 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a brief illness.
Born and raised in Dorchester, he was a 1977 graduate of Catholic Memorial High School.
He was a systems engineer for Integrated IT Solutions of Norwood.
Mr. O’Donnell had been a longtime bartender for J.J. Foley’s in Boston.
He was a member of the Old Dorchester Post and an avid New England Patriots fan.
He is survived by his wife, Bernadine O’Donnell; his children, Katie O’Donnell and Brendan O’Donnell, both of Milton; his parents, Richard F. O’Donnell Sr. and Elizabeth (Callow) O’Donnell, of Quincy; his siblings, Robyn E. O’Donnell, of Weymouth, Shannon M. Banks and her husband, Thomas, of Milford, Janice M. Knight and her husband, Scott, of Santa Monica, Calif., Joyce A. O’Donnell and her husband, Michael, of Quincy, and John M. O’Donnell, a member of the Quincy Police Department, and his wife, Patricia, of Weymouth; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and in-laws.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Gregory Church, Dorchester, on June 29. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
Arrangements were by the Dolan Funeral Home.
