Mr. Garvey was the owner of Garvey Oldsmobile in Norwell and Columbia Buick in Hanover.

He served in the Army Reserves and was a member of the Metropolitan Yacht Club in Braintree.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis J. (McLaughlin) Garvey, of Braintree; his sons, Thomas R. Garvey and his wife, Ruth, of Braintree, and Ross M. Garvey and his wife, Kari, of Mendon; his sisters, Joanne K. Manning, of Norwell, and Patricia Bennett, of Virginia; and four grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on Sept. 30 Burial was private.
