| Rita M. Gallagher |
Rita Marie (McLaughlin) Gallagher died at her home on May 1. Mrs. Gallagher was born in Boston and was a former Mattapan resident. She had lived in South Boston for the past 35 years. She was a member of St. Brigid Parish, South Boston. A loving and supportive mother, she will be greatly missed. She was the wife of the late Patrolman John J. Gallagher, of the Boston Police Department, who was killed in the line of duty. She is survived by her children, Mary Catherine O’Donnell and her husband, Martin, of South Boston, John Joseph Gallagher and his wife, Patricia, of Sparta, N.J., and Anne Ellen Gallagher, of South Boston; her grandchildren, John M. O’Donnell, of Connecticut, Elizabeth A. O’Donnell, of South Boston, and Taran P. Gallagher, Helene M. Gallagher and John J. Gallagher III, all of New Jersey; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was the daughter of the late Edward L. McLaughlin and Catherine F. McLaughlin, the sister of the late Edward McLaughlin, William McLaughlin and James McLaughlin, and sister-in-law of the late Joseph Gallagher, Paul Gallagher, Rita Frid, Marie Brown and Helen McDermott. A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Brigid Church on May 5. Burial was in New Calvary Cemetery, Mattapan. Arrangements were by the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home. |
