Rita M. (Whalen) Murray, 91, of Milton, formerly of Dorchester, died March 21.

Born in East Boston, she lived in Dorchester for many years before moving to Milton in 1968.

Mrs. Murray and her family summered in the Ocean Bluffs section of Marshfield for more than 50 years.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert P. Murray; her children, Janice Mercadante, of Mashpee, formerly of Medfield, Robert P. Murray Jr., Ph.D., and his wife, Joan, of Westwood, and Thomas M. Murray and his wife, Mary, of Hanover; her son-in-law, Hugh McCusker, of Milton; her grandchildren, Joseph Mercadante, Michael Mercadante, Meghan McCusker Alson, Melissa Quest-Mercadante, Kristen McCusker Delaney, Elizabeth Mercadante, Christopher Murray, Brendan Murray, Matthew Murray, Patrick McCusker, Gregory Murray and Anna Murray; seven great -grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Marjorie McCusker, daughter of the late Thomas Whalen and Margaret Whalen, sister of the late Thomas Whalen, Patricia Sullivan and Paul G. Whalen, and mother-in-law of the late S. Joseph Mercadante.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Elizabeth Church on March 26. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
