Robert A. “Bob” Scannell, of Milton, formerly of Mission Hill, died at home on March 15 after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Boston on Jan. 7, 1936, he was the son of the late Mildred (Wenger) and James Scannell.
Mr. Scannell was a veteran of the Korean War.
His family members lit up his life and he lit up theirs.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart, and wife of 52 years, Geraldine (Murray) Scannell; his children, Susan Young, of Westwood, and her husband, Joe, Bob Scannell Jr., of Milton, and his wife, Mary, Bill Scannell, of Medfield, and his wife, Beth, Laurie Sullivan, of Milton, and her husband, Mike, and Kevin Scannell, of Dover, and his wife, Nicole; his grandchildren, Joey Young, Erin Young and Danny Young, of Westwood, Olivia Scannell, Bobby Scannell and Julia Scannell, of Milton, Billy Scannell, Caroline Scannell, Jack Scannell and Jimmy Scannell, of Medfield, Mike Sullivan, Katie Sullivan and Danny Sullivan, of Milton, and Kevin Scannell, Tommy Scannell, Sean Scannell and Bridget Scannell, of Dover; his siblings, James Scannell and his wife, Mary, of West Roxbury, and Mary Baxter Shattuck and her husband, Richard, of Mashpee; his sisters-in-law, Marie Scannell, of Plymouth, and Mary Scannell, of Nashua, N.H.; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
He was the brother of the late Gerard Scannell, Joseph Scannell and Virginia Macdonald.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on March 18.
