Robert B. White

Robert B. White, of Framingham, formerly of Braintree, died Sept. 24.

He was a graduate of Braintree High School’s class of 1953.

Mr. White served in the Navy as a radioman for nine years after high school. He later lived in Virginia and worked for a radio station.

He graduated from Northeastern Institute of Technology in Boston, where he studied to be an electronic technician. He was a retiree of Digital Equipment Corp.

During his time in Virginia, he took aviation lessons and earned a license to fly a small plane. He bought a small airplane and enjoyed telling stories of his flying adventures.

Mr. White was an avid hiker and mountain climber. He climbed all the presidential mountains in New Hampshire. A skier, he belonged to the Massa-Schusser Ski Club, in Bartlett, N.H.

He loved gardening, and was proud of his flowering plants and vegetable garden.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen M. (Carey) White; his siblings, Terence P. White, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Stephanie Gray, of Bridgewater; his in-laws, Richard and Eloise Carey, of Walpole; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was the son of the late Robert White and Elizabeth (McGuire) White.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on Sept. 28. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
