Robert K. Cannon

Robert K. Cannon, 62, died April 16 after a battle with cancer.
Born in Boston, he grew up in Dorchester Lower Mills and had resided in Squantum for the past 30 years.
A graduate of St. Gregory Grammar School, Boston College High School and Boston College, Mr. Cannon also completed graduate work in communications at Boston University.
He was a loving, kind, intelligent man, with a tremendous wit. A passionate history buff, his curiosity took him on many adventures around the world.
He was the former public affairs specialist of the U.S. Postal Service, covering New England. He was the radio host of the “Acoustic Sunrise” show at WUMB, Boston, as well as the writer/producer of “New England Heritage” at the same radio station.
A former runner, he once completed the Boston Marathon, as well as many local races. He was a longtime volunteer of the Massachusetts Association for the Blind, utilizing his radio voice to record books for the blind.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha A. (Brady) Cannon; his mother-in-law, Helen (McGonagle) Brady, of Braintree; his siblings, John “Jack” Cannon, of Cambridge, Edward Cannon, of France, and Mary Jane Cannon, of Quincy; his brother-in-law, Richard Brady, of Quincy; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was the son of the late Frank Cannon and Marie (McCarron) Cannon, and son-in-law of the late Richard Brady.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Gregory Church, Dorchester, on April 21. Burial was private.
