Robert M. Fitzgerald died Dec. 15.
Born in Boston, he grew up in Dorchester and lived in Milton for more than 50 years. He graduated from Hyde Park High School and Northeastern University.
He was a retired civil engineer of Frederick R. Harris Co. in Boston.
Mr. Fitzgerald was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, a former member of the Milton Board of Appeals, a Town Meeting member and a member of the Milton Historical Society.
He will be missed for his loving support, the special bond he had with each of his grandchildren and his sense of humor.
Husband of the late Mary R. (Sullivan) Fitzgerald, he is survived by his children, Mary Kelly, of Milton, Joseph Fitzgerald and Thomas Fitzgerald, both of New Hampshire, Laurie Jensen and Arleen Bernardi, both of Milton, Diane Mackenzie, of Weymouth, Amy Adams, of New Hampshire, Linda Fitzgerald, of Milton, and Jean Faust, of New York; 16 grandchildren; and his sisters, Lois Lanier, of Walpole, and Ruth Hensbey, of Washington.
He was the brother of the late Jack Fitzgerald.
The funeral service and burial were private.
