Romualdas J. “Ray” Leimonas, of Kingston, a retired Army lieutenant colonel, died at home Oct. 8.

Born in Lithuania, he and his family were World War II survivors and moved to the United States when he was a young man.

Mr. Leimonas, a graduate of Boston College, was a licensed independent clinical social worker. He worked at Quincy Mental Health Center, Taunton State Hospital and Pembroke Hospital before his retirement.

A Vietnam War veteran, he was the former head of the psycho drama department at the Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C.

He is survived by his wife, Monique F. (Paris) Leimonas; his children, Anneliese Heidi Leimonas, of Kingston, and John R. Leimonas and his wife, Kathryn, of Rensselaer, N.Y.; his grandchildren, Stephanie Streck and her husband, Rob, of Groton, Paul Leimonas and his wife, Teila, and Timothy Leimonas, all of New York; four great-grandsons; and his cousin, Birute Ciuris, of Florida.

He was the father of the late Ruth M. Leimonas.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Peter Lithuanian Church, South Boston, on Oct. 13. Burial was in National Cemetery, Bourne.
