Ronald X. Conway

Ronald X. Conway died March 18.

Born and raised in Dorchester, he had resided in Quincy for the past 40 years.

A graduate of Don Bosco High School, Suffolk University, Curry College and Boston State College, he received his doctoral degree in education from Boston University.

A retired Boston police captain, he served as the Area A-1 commander and was a former deputy superintendent of the department. He spearheaded community-policing efforts.

Dr. Conway was a professor at Boston University, Curry College and Quincy College.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam Era.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. (Sullivan) Conway; his children, Ronald X. Conway Jr., Christopher J. Conway and his wife, Susan, all of Quincy, Kara B. Norton and her husband, Ronald, of Cohasset, and Gregory B. Conway and his wife, Mary Ryan, of South Boston; his granddaughters, Maeve Norton and Aine Norton; his siblings, Paul Conway, of Florida, Carol Muszynaski, of New York, and Donna Gallagher, of Milton; and his extended family.

He was the son of the late George Conway and Loretta Conway, and the brother of the late Lorraine Dean, Claire Fisher, George Conway Jr. and Robert Conway.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on March 23. Burial was in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
