Ruth E. Mulhern, 85, died at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C., on June 13.
Miss Mulhern was a lifelong resident of Milton. She graduated from Milton High School and from the Hitchcock Secretarial School in Boston.
She worked for U.S. Mining & Smelting in Boston, and later as a secretary at Milton High where she kept the truancy records. She retired from the high school in the early 1990s.
She lived at Fuller Village in Milton until her health declined, then moved to a nursing home in North Carolina to be near her brother.
Daughter of the late John H. Mulhern and Mary (Lehan) Mulhern, she is survived by her sister, Helen E. Hillier, of East Falmouth; her brother, John D. Mulhern, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and 13 nieces and nephews.
Miss Mulhern was the sister of the late Anne M. Daniel.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on June 20. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
Arrangements were by the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home.
