Ruth Olive (Jenness) Ford, 93, died Aug. 6 at Orchard Cove in Canton.
Born in Quincy, she was the daughter of Frank and Rebecca Jenness.
Mrs. Ford worked as a secretary for Boston Edison. Later she became a homemaker.
She was active in the state as an ombudsperson and received numerous awards for that work.
Her son remembers her as an excellent cook.
She loved to do arts and crafts, but her true love was painting and she sold several of her still-life works.
She was a volunteer at Milton Hospital for more than 27 years and donated 40,000 hours.
Mrs. Ford was a member of the Eastern Star and the last surviving member of the Ponkapoag Book Club.
Wife of the late Arthur Ford, she is survived by her son, Allan A. Ford, of Laconia, N.H.; and her grandchildren, Shawn A. Ford, of Barnstead, N.H., Robyn S. Ford, of New Hampshire and South Carolina, and Gary A. Ford, of Alton Bay, N.H.
She was the sister of the late Allan Jenness.
A funeral service was held Aug. 9 in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home. Burial was in Canton Corner Cemetery, Canton.
