Samuel M. “Sam” Ragusa died Oct. 31 at Boston Medical Center.

Born in Boston, he was raised in Readville and educated in the Boston schools. He resided in Dorchester for 24 years.

Mr. Ragusa was a retired member of Local #379, a Korean War veteran, and a former member of Dedham American Legion Post 18, Dedham VFW, Disabled American Veterans, and USS English: Tin Can Sailors Association.

He was a vocalist and drummer for the musical group The Brothers.

His family members would like to express their thanks to Dr. Gary Balady and the staff at Boston Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara R. “Max” (Vacca) Ragusa; his daughters, Theresa Pacheco, of Texas, and Monica Ragusa, of Florida; and four grandchildren.

He was the son of the late Frank Ragusa and Josephine Ragusa, and brother of the late John Ragusa, Eugene Ragusa and Theresa Kozikowski. A funeral service was held in the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home on Nov. 3. Burial was in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
