Theresa A. (DiPiero) Gentile, 96, a longtime resident of Quincy, died at the William B. Rice Eventide Home, Quincy, on July 8.
Born and raised in Italy, she immigrated to the United States in March 1930 and moved to Quincy. She worked as a seamstress during World War II and married the late Louis Gentile May 20, 1944.
Mrs. Gentile expressed her creativity through designing garments and her home cooking. Her home was a respite for many.
An avid bowler for years, she was a member of many leagues until the age of 95. She also loved to travel.
Wife of the late Louis Gentile, she is survived by her children, Theresa A. Poule and her husband, William, of Dedham, Lorraine G. Haynes and her husband, Ric, of Quincy, and Louis A. Gentile and his wife, Rosemarie, of Scituate; her grandchildren, Lisa M. Poule, of Dedham, Kristen A. Burm, of Hingham, and James Gentile, of Scituate; her great-grandchildren, Alexandra M. Poule, Julia H. Burm, Alana T. Burm, Nikolas Poule and Brendan D. Burm; her sister, Josephine DiTocco, of Hingham; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late John DiPiero and
Anna Masciarelli.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. John the Baptist Church, Quincy, on July 14. Burial was in Mount Wollaston Cemetery.
