Thomas D. Manning

Thomas D. Manning died June 20.
Born in Boston, he grew up in Dorchester and had been a Milton resident for the past 50 years.
Mr. Manning was a graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School and the Boston College class of 1945.
He served as first lieutenant in the Army’s 9th Infantry Division during World War II.
A retired 30-year special agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston, he also worked as director of security of The New England, the Museum of Fine Arts and the 1984 Summer Olympic Games.
Mr. Manning was a member of the Catholic Alumni Sodality of Boston, a former Town Meeting member and Warrant Committee member, and a former member of the Cunningham Men’s Bowling League.
Husband of the late Doris F. (Bertram) Manning, he is survived by his children, Carol A. Krall, of Hanover, Tim Manning and Catherine A. Manning, both of Hingham, and Peter J. Manning, of Norwell; and his grandchildren, Ashley Manning, Heather Manning, Gregory Manning, Courtney Manning, Matthew Manning, Molly Manning, Dori Manning, Michael Krall and Gretchen Krall.
He was the brother of the late Mary Kent, Charles P. Manning and John J. Manning.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on June 23. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
