Thomas J. McManus, 86, of Milton, died at home on June 25.

Born in Nure, County Roscommon, Ireland, he was raised in Ireland and moved to Boston when he was a young man.

Mr. McManus was a laborer for Boston Gas and retired as a foreman.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine P. (Lawlor) McManus; his children, John G. McManus and his wife, Virginia, of Norwell, Thomas F. McManus and his wife, Ellen, of Hingham, Stephen M. McManus and his wife, Jennifer, of Quincy, Margaret A. McCahan and her husband, John, of Wayland, and Kathleen M. Lagan and her husband, Matthew, of Milton; his grandchildren, Carley McManus, Elizabeth McManus, Craig McCahan, Matthew McCahan, Jack McCahan and Emmet Lagan; and his siblings, John McManus, of Nure, County Roscommon, Ireland, and Kathleen Kenney, of England.

He was the brother of the late Mary Harney, Nell Kelly and Nan Gavin.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Elizabeth Church on July 1. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
