Thomas R. DeSimone died in North Weymouth on July 5 after battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma for four years.
Mr. DeSimone graduated from Somerville High School in 1958 and from the Boston Naval Shipyard Apprentice School as a Journeyman Electronics Mechanic in 1963.
He was employed as a civil service worker for the Navy from 1963-to 1973 at the Boston Naval Shipyard; worked for General Dynamics in Groton, Conn., from 1973 to 1981; and worked as an engineer for the Air Force at the Hanscom Air Force Base from 1981 to 1988. Mr. DeSimone retired from the federal government on April 1, 1988, after 28 years of service.
He was an avid jogger and loved to discuss politics. He was very interested in the Cape Wind Project.
Mr. DeSimone is survived by daughters, Susan DeSimone and Jennifer DeSimone; his son-in-law, Sujoy Guha; his granddaughter, Anjoli; his brother, Louis DeSimone Sr.; and his sisters, Christine Lynch and Frances Lecesse.
A memorial service was held July 21 in the Dolan Funeral Home.
