Verna E. (Ellison) Potter died at Boston Medical Center on Jan. 2.
Born in Boston, she resided in Dorchester before moving to Quincy 40 years ago.
A graduate of Massachusetts Memorial Hospital’s School of Nursing, Mrs. Potter was a former member of the board and honorary lifetime member of Massachusetts Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumnae Association. She retired from the William B. Rice Eventide Home, Quincy, and was an active member of Quincy Community United Methodist Church.
The wife of 62 years of the late Rev. Dr. Leicester R. Potter Jr., she is survived by her children, Robert E. Potter and his wife, Paulette, of Quincy, John S. Potter and his wife, Carol, of Milton, Richard F. Potter, a member of the Quincy Police Department, and his wife, Kathleen, and David L. Potter and his wife, Meg, all of Quincy; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was the sister of the late Jean Ellison.
A funeral service was held at the Chapel at Cedar Grove Cemetery on Jan. 7.
