“I’ve always liked this area. It needed (a salon),” said Thompson, who lives on Adams Street in Dorchester. “It’s such a great area to have a business. There’s not a lot of turnover in the area and when I saw the space I jumped on it.”
In addition, Thompson said he’s eagerly anticipating the new condos planned for Milton Village/Dorchester Lower Mills and the Central Avenue business district. “It’s a thriving little area,” he said.
Eclipse Salon offers hair, nails, manicure, pedicure, reflexology, waxing and massage services. It serves both men and women.
Thompson said it features Newbury Street excellence, but without the hassle of heading downtown and looking for parking.
“You take your experience wherever you go.” he said. “When I say we’re a Newbury Street salon, we’re a Newbury Street salon.”
Eclipse Salon is currently offering a 20 percent discount for all first-time visitors for any service. Thompson said even with no advertising, opening day had 10 new clients either walk in or call and make an appointment.
Many of his patrons say they will keep coming to Eclipse despite the move. Thompson said the location – close to the T, the expressway and Randolph Avenue – make it easy to get to.
“It was an amazing transformation,” he said about the move into the real estate office. It took 10 weeks to get the place ready, which needed a new floor as well as paint and plumbing.
Thompson is inviting all residents to see the new business.
“We have a very comfortable environment with no attitude,” he said.
