COA Welcomes
New SHINE Counselor

By Mary Ann Sullivan
Council on Aging Director
8/11/11

(continued)
After more than 15 years of dedicated service, our Milton SHINE Counselor Paul Kelley is “retiring,” so to speak.

Paul has been volunteering his time and talent to assist Milton seniors with their health insurance concerns every Tuesday and Thursday at the senior center. I daresay he has helped hundreds of elderly residents save thousands of dollars on their health insurance.

Although he is stepping down as SHINE counselor, Paul is still the chairman of the Council on Aging’s board of directors, which must seem like a full-time job at times. He is always willing to support and defend the programs and services we offer to the seniors of Milton. We are so fortunate to have him in this important position.

We are pleased to announce that our new SHINE counselor will be Barbara O’Donnell, who is currently working in the same capacity at the Manet Community Health Center in Quincy. Barbara will be with us in Milton on the second and last Wednesday of each month from 1 to 3 p.m.

If you would like to make an appointment, just give us a call at (617) 898-4893 and we can take care of it. As you may know, open enrollment for Medicare is starting early this year, so we expect to be very busy this fall.

We are all very grateful to Barbara for taking on this new assignment. We know she will help many seniors make the right choices as to which health insurance plan is right for them.
