Milton police and state detectives are investigating a possible link between a missing North Carolina teen and the badly mutilated body of a black teen discovered on Brierbrook Street Nov. 15.

The body was discovered around 9:35 p.m. on the secluded residential street with no shoes, shirt or ID and massive head trauma. The body was so badly mutilated authorities have yet to identify the victim’s age or cause of death.

Detectives traveled to Charlotte, N.C., on Nov. 19 to follow up on a lead Milton police received the night before.

“We received a tip. It was an out-of-state phone call. Detectives and troopers from the [district attorney’s] office are en route to Charlotte,” Police Chief Richard Wells Jr. told the Times. “Based on what we know, this is completely independent of anything we’ve been investigating.”

WBTV in Charlotte is reporting that Delvonte Tisdale, a 16-year-old North Mecklenburg High School student, was last seen Nov. 14 around 11:30 p.m.

Wells would not say whether the body, which was found by Curry College students driving down Brierbrook Street, is that of the missing teen. A hand-written note found in the victim’s jeans, which police believe could be a lunch pass, contains a name that appears to be “Delonte Tisdale” and the phrase “A lunch” with an illegible signature. It is dated Oct. 19.

Wells said DNA and dental tests of the victim are pending.

He would not say whether there is an association between the victim and Curry College. Police identified two vehicles – a white Audi and a dark sedan – believed to have been at the crime scene. The Audi had Illinois plates and a Curry sticker. It was impounded at the Walter Baker condominiums in Dorchester, where its female owner resides.
