Police Arrest Two in East Milton Heroin Bust

12/10/09
Two people were arrested Tuesday afternoon in East Milton Square in relation to what Police Chief Richard Wells Jr. described as a “significant heroin operation.” Wells said he would not identify those arrested because it may jeopardize an ongoing investigation. He said both suspects are male, one from Dorchester and another from a South Shore community, which he would not identify.
“It’s been going on for some time,” the chief said of the drug operation.
Wells said the arrests were made following a “brief investigation” by the Milton Police Department.
The arrests occurred in the parking lot of the Dunkin’ Donuts on Adams Street and on Antwerp Street, outside the Dependable Cleaners business, Wells said.
Several police vehicles, unmarked cars and K-9 units converged on Antwerp Street, just outside the Fruit Center Marketplace shopping area, around 3:30 p.m. Investigators were seen searching an older-model brown car and the surrounding area with various investigative tools. One individual, a black male, originally held at the scene while the car was being searched, was allowed to leave. Another black male was taken into custody.
Deputy Police Chief Charles Paris was observed handling a large stack of paper money and a brown paper bag at the scene.
