At the meeting, Town Planner Bill Clark gave Selectmen an update on what the committee has been considering. He said the group has held 12 meetings over the past year and has requested six additional months to continue their study.
“I would say they’re still in the information-gathering stage,” he said.
He said there are talented people on the committee, with backgrounds in business and real estate, and that a real estate appraisal is being undertaken to see what type of construction is feasible.
“There are a lot of different spectrums of opinion on the committee” on how to use the land, he
said. “Nothing has been decided yet, not even a
draft outline.”
Based on Town Administrator Kevin Mearn’s suggestion, the Selectmen voted to extend the study committee for an additional 12-month period. Selectman Chair Kathy Fagan said six months may not be enough time for the committee to reach a consensus recommendation for the trustees to consider.
“It does seem like [six months] may be cutting it a little short,” she said.
