The main library will be open Friday, April 3, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Several grand reopening events this weekend will follow.
Children’s activities are planned for Saturday, April 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The official library dedication is Sunday, April 5, from 1 to 4 p.m. It will include guided tours, a dedication ceremony and a ribbon-cutting. The Fontbonne Gospel Choir will sing at 2:15 p.m. “Meet the Artists of Milton” is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

Following the grand reopening, regularly scheduled hours at the library will be Mondays through Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Thursdays and Fridays, 1 to 9 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Kidder branch, located at
101 Blue Hills Parkway, shut its doors last week, as was the town’s original
plan. The branch was reopened to handle the load during main-library construction.
The Library Trustees are discussing the possibility of renting out the Kidder building, according to Library Director Phil McNulty.
The East Milton Branch Library, which has been handling extended operating hours during construction, will be closed from April 2 to 6 during the transition. It will reopen with new hours Tuesday, April 7.
According to librarian Jean Hlady, the new hours for East Milton will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Wednesdays from 1 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. It will no longer be open on Mondays and Fridays.
