MFE Hires School
Grant Writer

Superintendent Mary Gormley spearheaded the hiring process, which included a Selection Committee comprised of nine public school personnel, MFE board members and School Committee Members who reviewed 21 applications and interviewed five candidates. Gormley was quick to praise the MFE for underwriting the grant writer position and is looking forward to working with Masalsky.
“We are extraordinarily fortunate to have someone like Chris working on behalf of the school system,” Gormley said. “He has the experience and the talents that we need to tap into a much wider pool of resources to supplement our budget and enhance the education we provide our students.”
Masalsky is a graduate of MIT and Northeastern University and is currently a Grants Coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay. Although the job with Milton is a half time position, Masalsky knows he will be spending a lot of time over the next few months getting to know the various constituencies with whom he will be working: principals, teachers, PTO’s, MFE, School Committee, parents, students and residents. Masalsky said he is looking forward to working with all the stakeholders of the Milton public schools. “It’s a pleasure to join this group of hardworking, dedicated professionals to address the funding challenges the schools currently face. Together we can develop new revenue streams and preserve educational excellence in Milton.”
The Milton Foundation for Education is a nonprofit organization that raises money for all six public schools. Through its annual appeal and signature events, the Monster Dash and Celebration for Education, the MFE raises more than $200,000 annually for innovative programs and initiatives that are beyond the reach of the school system’s budget.
