The board appointed the following residents or business owners to the Citizens and Business Advisory Committee, formerly known as the East Milton Parking Study: Paul Lane, 3 Edge Hill Road; Meryl Manin, Grono & Christie Jewelers; Leslie Will, 103 Canton Avenue; Rafael Urbino, 9 Viola Street; Paul Tierney, 1060 Brook Road; Bernie Lynch, 34 Milton Hill Road; John Virgona, 580 Adams Street; Marietta Surette, 132 Ridgewood Road; Nancy Jesson, Milton Chamber of Commerce; Kathleen Kechejian, Glory Daze; Kenneth G. Caldwell, 23 St. Agatha’s Road; Brian O’Shea, 32 Barton’s Lane; Arthur J. Doyle, 85 Belcher Circle.
“Everyone agrees parking in the square is a major issue,” said Town Planner Bill Clark, who is in charge of the committee.
Clark said the town will hire a consulting team to head the overall plan.
Members of the study group - include eight town residents, four town business owners and a member of the Planning Board and Selectmen - will assess the work of consulters at the monthly meetings.
Selectmen Chair Kathy Fagan is pleased with the volunteer turnout.
“We’re really appreciative of all the volunteers,” she said at the board’s meeting Oct. 6.
Planning Board Member Bernie Lynch will represent his board on the committee.
The parking study is funded by a federal
earmark that Clark called “high priority, site
specific funding.”
He said there is no set date for the grant to be spent, but expects the committee to conclude its work sometime in about a year or 18 months.
