Valet parking will also be offered, according to Welch.
Steve Tedesco, a prominent restaurant designer who worked on Davio’s at Patriot Place in Foxboro and Sonsie on Newbury Street, helped with schematics. Welch has compared the concept for the new restaurant to the Ashmont Grill in Dorchester.
Welch says he is excited about plans for the façade of the building. “There are a lot of existing aesthetics that we’re going to bring back to life,” he says, mentioning stonework as well as old windows and brick that have been covered up.
The restaurant will have a bar area for waiting patrons. Currently, the liquor license home rule petition is awaiting House approval. The Senate already passed it.
“We feel confident that the licensing plans and permits are underway and that we’ll be able to start construction by the end of the summer,” says Welch, who hopes to finish work by the end of the year.
The restaurant already has the necessary variance and special permit from the Appeals Board. It needs site plan approval from the Planning Board.
The project is officially listed under Welch Management LLC in its permit applications. Welch says this is an investment group made up of prominent business people in town. He is not naming his partners.
“I’ll let them decide if they want to go public,” he says.
