Discovery Schoolhouse is preparing to move into the closed Kidder branch library on Blue Hills Parkway.
According to Brian Scheff, the school’s director, a deal is almost finalized with the library trustees, who have advertised in The Patriot Ledger to lease the building.
The library branch was closed after the main library reopened on Canton Avenue. Trustees have said it was their original plan to close the Kidder building due to financial constraints.
And even if voters elect to adopt a tax hike in next year’s budget, it is likely the other branch, in East Milton, will close, according to Library Director Phil McNulty.
Discovery Schoolhouse must move because the building in which it is currently located is being sold, Scheff said. He did not say what it will cost to lease the Kidder building.
The school, owned by the Archdiocese of Boston, has been located at 865 Brush Hill Road since 1992.
