Several neighbors told the Planning Board on April 28 that they are still concerned over a proposed subdivision at the Margaret Boyle estate on Brush Hill Road
Representing the Brush Hill Neighborhood Association, Tim Kernan said the latest concern is over the fate of the scenic driveway on the property, located at 683-685 Brush Hill Road. He said many neighbors want to see the driveway remain as part of the development.
“This driveway is the black oak of Brush Hill Road,” said Kernan, referring to the recent controversy over the cutting of a large oak tree at the Hendries property on Eliot Street. “It has a nice, historic quality to it.”
Henry Carr, who lives across the street from the Boyle estate, said he’s concerned by the developer’s plan to cut a driveway through a hilly section of the property. He said it could cause an accelerated water runoff onto Brush Hill Road.
“It would be like cutting a channel through the property,” Carr said of the new driveway. “You could have water pouring down Brush Hill Road.”
Neighbors have advocated for a three-lot subdivision with maintained green space rather than the five-lot plan that was originally filed with the town. The developer, Randolph-based Corvo Construction, has a purchase-and-sale agreement to develop on the site.

Also at the meeting, the board agreed in principal to allow a change in materials for completion of construction of the Residences at Brook Hill at 36 Central Ave.
The change is from a previously approved stone material to brick and Lifespan-brand wood to finish off the lower sections and trim of the building.
The board held off voting on other changes, including the repositioning of walkways, benches and landscaped areas on the property. Some of the changes were being shown for the first time.
“I need more time,” said Jackson.
The Residences at Brook Hill will contain condominium units and 884 square feet of office space. |
