Zoning Issues Top Town Meeting

| February 27, 2014

The 2104 Town Meeting will vote on articles affecting the Stoughton property and the location of marijuana facilities as submitted by the Planning Board. In addition, citizens’ petitions would allow a condominium development off Pleasant Street and expanded zoning for Thayer Nursery on Hillside Street.

Those articles are among the 42 submitted for the Annual Town Meeting scheduled for May 5. The majority of the articles are routine approvals and budgets. However several articles were submitted by the Planning Board and as citizens’ petitions.

Planning Director Bill Clark briefly outlined the details of zoning articles for selectmen and observers at the board’s Feb. 11 meeting.

Clark said the Planning Board’s article revising the town’s cluster zoning bylaws could allow higher density on the Governor Stoughton property and possibly permit the construction of affordable units. The current plan provides for 23 homes on 30 acres.
