Join the Milton Early Childhood Alliance (MECA) team for summer reading and singing this summer. Summertime Stories is for families with their children, ages birth to 6 years old. If the weather is nice, bring a blanket because programs will be outside. If it is rainy, the program takes place indoors. Parents/caregivers must remain with and look after, their child or children. Registration is not required; however, a sign-in upon arrival is required. Meet for the first program at 10 a.m. at Parkway United Methodist Church on Thursday, July 11 and also, on Thursday, Aug. 8, and at Cunningham Hall on Thursday, July 18 and Thursday, Aug. 22. This program is co-sponsored with the Milton Public Library and the Milton Public Schools.

MECA’s STEM activities will continue to be included in Milton Public Library’s Free Play Fridays program. Fun, hands-on, materials supporting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math vary each session and are designed for children ages 3 to 6. The STEM programs will be held on Fridays, July 12 and July 26, and Fridays, Aug. 9 and 23 from 10 a.m. to noon. Parents/caregivers must remain with and look after their child or children. Registration is not required; however, a sign-in upon arrival is required. This program is co- sponsored with Milton Public Library.

Also, MECA Story Walks at the Trailside Museum and Houghton’s Pond are underway and will remain until early winter. Take a walk around the Trailside Museum’s outdoor grounds, or the playground at Houghton’s Pond, and enjoy a children’s story book posted along the way. At the Trailside Museum, a new children’s book will be featured every five to six weeks during the summer and fall months. At Houghton’s Pond, a new story will be posted in the fall. Families may participate daily rain or shine, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
