All are welcome to join the Wakefield Estate, the Milton Department of Public Works, the Milton Shade Tree Advisory Committee, and Sustainable Milton for a celebration of the earth and our connection to it during the third annual Earth Celebration Day.

This family-friendly event will take place, rain or shine, on Friday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wakefield Estate on 1465 Brush Hill Road. Parking will be available onsite and at the Thacher Montessori School on Route 138.

The event will have a "soften your footprint on the planet" theme with an array of spring activities designed to help participants become better "friends of the environment."

Outdoor activities include Garden Yoga for all ages at 11 a.m. (bring your yoga mat and call 617-333-0924 to reserve your spot, keeping in mind that this is subject to cancellation due to weather); Make Your Own Worm Compost with Jim Tiberii from the Green Team of the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection; visits and selfies with llamas including 4-month old Baby Betty, sheep, chickens, and Pumpkin the miniature rooster; recycling information and information about having a "zero waste home;” tree planting; earth art and games; and citizen scientist tree phenology and citizen scientist activities
