The Select Board has approved a request of its Municipal Broadband Committee to ask Town Meeting on May 3 to have Milton take an initial step in providing its own municipal broadband network.

That first step is to ask Town Meeting members to approve a municipal lighting plant, not to provide electricity, but to act as a “legal structure” to own the future municipal fiber optic network that would serve the town, Select Board member Mike Zullas said.
