The Milton Club continued to be a lightning rod for a handful of neighbors who voiced opposition to the club’s application for a liquor license before the Select Board on March 13.

After listening to complaints, the board continued the public hearing on the license until March 27.

The Milton Club was granted a three-year special permit to operate in the residential neighborhood after a contentious hearing a year ago before the Board of Appeals.

Despite neighborhood opposition, the Board of Appeals approved the special permit with board members citing the desire to preserve the historic building that had operated as the Milton Hoosic Club for more than 100 years.

If the Select Board approves the liquor license, it would then face review by the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission (ABCC).
