The Town of Milton and its office of Veteran Services are announcing that this year’s Veterans Day observance will be held on Monday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Town Hall.
The Select Board and Director of Veterans Services Kevin Cook, along with members of American Legion Post 114, will conduct ceremonies to commemorate veterans past and present.
This year’s ceremony will pay tribute to all of Milton’s Gulf War, Iraq, and Afghanistan veterans. Milton’s Challenge Coin will be awarded to all Gulf War, Iraq, and Afghanistan veterans in attendance. If you are a veteran from one of these conflicts and would like to participate in the observance, contact Cook at 617-898-4939.
The featured speaker will be Kyle Toto, community outreach specialist at the VA New England Healthcare System. In 2011, he was deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan with the US Army Reserves, where he was attached to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), and 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry).
The ceremony honoring all veterans will begin promptly at 11 a.m. with a procession down Canton Avenue to Town Hall from Milton High School beginning at 10:30 a.m.
