If the stress of COVID-19 proved anything to the Rev. John Allen, it was that his congregation at First Congregational Church knows how to really care for one another without much encouragement from him.

Now as services have returned in person, Allen is saying hello to many people he hasn’t seen for months. He is also saying goodbye at the same time.

Allen will leave his post at First Congregational on Sept. 26 to take a position as Senior Minister at First Parish in Brunswick, Maine.

Almost six years ago to the day, Allen and his wife Molli, who were newlyweds, started at the historic church abutting Milton’s town common.
