To the Editor:

The Milton Community Food Pantry was founded in 1991 by members of the Milton Multicultural Neighborhood Association who saw a need to help neighbors feed their families. It has expanded over the years and is now an integral part of our community.

Staffed entirely by volunteers, both adults and high school students, and operated by a Steering Committee of community members, the pantry’s mission is to provide food assistance to Milton residents.

We have been housed in basement space at the Parkway United Methodist Church for almost all of our years of operation. Last August, we moved to a ground floor section of the church that is handicapped accessible.

We are inviting members of the community to visit us to see our new pantry space on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, from noon to 2 p.m. Rev. Kathryn Johnson of the Parkway United Methodist Church will conduct a blessing of the pantry and we will be unveiling a plaque in honor of a young man who volunteered at the pantry for many years, Graham Strang, who passed away last year.

All are invited to join us. Refreshments will be served.

For additional information about this event or participating at, volunteering with, or donating to the pantry, call 617-696-0221.
